Water Activity

Overview

While cannabis is routinely dried and cured, making it difficult for most microbes to survive, Salmonella, Aspergillus, and Clostridium Botulium are all capable of successfully reproducing on cannabis flowers. The less active water in the product, the longer the shelf life. This screen will measure how high the water activity is in a given sample. The higher the measured water activity is in a cannabis sample, the more freely water can be used by microbes as a food source or to support chemical and enzymatic reactions.
